Rather than have a meeting this Thursday (22nd Oct), we’re going to have a movie night, meeting at the SU at 6.40ish, and heading to the Dublin Road Movie House Cinema.

We couldn’t decide what to see, so we narrowed it down to two choices, up to you guys to vote. The one with the most votes is the one we’ll go see…

The first meeting of this Semester will be next Thursday, in the Student’s Union, 3rd floor, Club Rooms 3 and 4, at 7pm.

After it, we’ll be heading for a few drinks in the Union, and then for anyone who wants to go, to Kremlin.

BBC Audience Council

The BBC have invited you to a meeting with the BBC Audience Council for NI. The Audience Council represents the views and interests of audiences in NI to the BBC Trust, the BBC’s governing body, and actively engages with audiences to listen to their views on the BBC’s services. Fresher’s Bazaar, Weds Sept 30: Come along to the Queen’s LGBT stall at the Fresher’s Bazaar and say hi, pick up some free stuff and learn about what we’ve got in store for the year.

First Coffee Meeting, Weds Oct 14: Venue TBC. A little more informal, a chance to come hang out with people from the society over a coffee and something to eat.

Just a quick blog to let you know about Belfast Pride, this Saturday, August 1st.

We will be meeting at 1pm at the Albert Clock, Custom House Square. The parade starts at 2pm, and if you’re interested, the after parties start at 3pm.

Having spent 17 years and over $30,000 on three different continents attempting to change and suppress his gay orientation, Peterson Toscano presents a lively lecture about the ex-gay movement and the often-tragic outcomes of pursuing such a change.

Peterson will also explore issues of gender and gender variance by looking at transgender Bible characters in his play Transfigurations–Transgressing Gender in the Bible.

There will be time for a Q&A Session

This is a one off oportunity to see this American performance artist in Belfast, not to be missed!

Thursday 7th May, 8pm Club rooms (3rd floor of SU will be the AGM (annual general meeting) where you can hear the current society officers give their reports of this year and then the fun begins electing the new commitee! If you would like to be involved in the society next year, make it better, do different things, then put your name forward for President, Secretary or Treasurer and make it great!

Any student can nominate themselves for a position and you don’t need to have been an active member this year, just have a drive to make it better next year (and there’s loads of help and advice on hand if you don’t know anything about running a society!!) Really anyone can do it so why not give it go and get something really amazing to put on your CV!

All nominations must be emailed to site@qublgbt.org.uk by thursday 7th may at 5pm and include your name, student number and position you’d like to nominate yourself for.
